In 1988, Dr. Somendra Lal Ghose was working as a locum at a neighbouring Practice following the death of the GP. The then-Liverpool Family Practitioners Committed closed the surgery, however the patients wanted Dr. Ghose to be their Doctor, so they protected outside of the LPC’s office, submitted a petition with hundreds of signatures and held action meetings in a lengthy campaign. Following a Judicial Review, Kenneth Clarke, Health Secretary at that time granted that Dr. Ghose could open a new Practice in the area, thus in 1989 Poulter Road Medical Centre was created.
